Friends Exhibition RBSA

I was lucky enough to have these paintings selected for the friends exhibition at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, friends exhibition. The private view was manic with people queuing to get in, it was a fantastic evening meeting fellow artists and collectors. The RBSA have a beautiful gallery over three floors in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter, just off St Paul’s Square in Birmingham, if you haven’t visited before then it’s worth a visit when you are next in Birmingham.

This Collection of paintings are to do with how the light interacts with the sea spray, mist and weather. The days I spent here at Gwithinan Beach, there was always a lull in the weather as the tide was about to turn, the calm before the storm. I wanted to try and capture the smell of the sea salt, the spray drenching everything, the colours of the mist, the advancing rain. the gold of the sun on the sea and sand.
