Friends Exhibition RBSA
Posted on Feb 09, 2025I should have created a post a month ago at the start of the exhibition, life has been busy, and I’m not great at self promotion I can usually talk about my work but I prefer to be in the background, hiding behind what my paintings have to say.
War Torn Shores

Northumbrian Coastline
This painting was inspired by the Northumbrian coastline, where my parents grew up and as a child my brothers and I played and swam.
This was a cold grey morning, with what my dad called a “sea fret”. Along the beautiful coastline it is littered with the remnants of World War Two. Concrete battery’s, anti tank pill-box bunkers and left over barbed wire fencing. These days the fencing is to stop us going to close to the edge of the soft cliff tops, but earlier remnants of wire was to stop invading forces. As the light breaks through the sea fret the lights refracts and sparkles with a myriad of colours, and outlines emerge.
The only battle being fought here is that between the land and the sea, with the waves constantly pounding the land, eroding he coastline. I’m hoping to be part of the candidates exhibition to try and become an Associate Member of the RBSA, later this year.
