Seascapes

I love nothing more than a bracing walk on the beach, and when the weather is warmer a swim in the sea. I love the smells and sounds of the waves crashing along the shoreline, the way the sun glints on the water, how the weather changes in an instant. All my senses seem to be more alive when I’m at the coast and can be mesmerised to by the shear force and power of the ocean.

I work where the wild places are, in the landscapes around me and those held in memory. There is a subtle tension between the terrain I inhabit now and the places that shaped me, and I carry both within me. My practice is a meditative exploration of these inner and outer landscapes. Walking, observing, and remembering immerses me in place, and I respond instinctively, seeking to translate its presence into something essential.

Each piece is both residue and response: an inner excavation shaped by immersion and time. My work sits between the seen and the felt, the remembered and the immediate, minimal, distilled, and emotionally charged.
